Estie (Pieter’s wife) is delighted with her new implants and veneer

“Most of our patients tell us the procedure was painless — and if you ever feel a thing, we make the area more numb and won’t begin until you’re completely comfortable. You stay in control the whole way through.”

— Dr Pieter Claassen

A dental implant permanently replaces a missing tooth without touching the healthy teeth either side of it. It restores comfortable chewing, clear speech and a smile you don’t have to think about — and, done well, it lasts.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that takes the place of a missing tooth root. It’s placed gently into the jawbone, and over a few months it fuses with the bone to form a stable foundation. On top of it we fit a custom-made crown, bridge or secure denture — the part you see and smile with.

Part 1

The post

The titanium root that integrates with your bone.

Part 2

The abutment

The connector that sits at the gumline.

Part 3

The crown

The natural-looking replacement tooth on top.

Because the implant replaces the root as well as the tooth, it keeps the jawbone active and healthy — something a conventional bridge or denture can’t do.

The benefits of dental implants

  • Chew and speak naturally again
  • Looks and feels like your own tooth
  • Prevents the bone loss that follows a missing tooth
  • Supports your facial structure
  • No special care — just brush and floss as normal
  • Sturdy and secure — no slipping or movement
  • No diet restrictions
  • Doesn’t damage the healthy teeth beside it

Full mouth & All-on-4 implants

If you’ve lost most or all of your teeth, or you’re struggling with loose dentures, you don’t need an implant for every single tooth. A full arch of fixed teeth can be supported on as few as four to six implants — often called All-on-4 or full-mouth implants.

The result is a fixed set of teeth that stay in permanently — no plates, no adhesive, no taking them out at night. For many patients it’s genuinely life-changing: eating what they like and smiling without a second thought.

Depending on how many teeth are missing, the right option might be a single implant and crown, an implant-retained bridge replacing several teeth on two or more implants, a full All-on-4 arch, or an implant-retained overdenture that clips firmly onto implants instead of resting on your gums. We’ll recommend what suits you at your consultation.

Because every full-mouth case is different, the best starting point is a consultation and 3D scan so we can show you exactly what’s possible for you.

A calmer, more comfortable experience

Our whole practice is built around gentle, anxiety-free care — and implants are no exception.

Comfort comes first. Most of our patients tell us the procedure was painless. Our aim is for treatment to be as pain-free as possible: if you feel anything, we make the area more numb — and if we can’t get you fully numb, we don’t proceed. You’re always in control.
Minimally invasive, keyhole approach. Where clinically suitable, we use a keyhole (flapless) technique that reduces trauma and downtime, so recovery is quicker and gentler.
Secure, yet retrievable. We join the implant and the tooth with a screw, so it’s firmly fixed and won’t move in everyday life — yet your dentist can still retrieve it easily if anything ever needs adjusting.

“When we surveyed our own implant patients, many needed no painkillers at all afterwards — and those who did typically needed them for only about two days.”

— Dr Pieter Claassen

A delighted implant patient with Dr Pieter Claassen
★★★★★

“I was devastated after breaking my front tooth and was so nervous about getting an implant. After visiting 3 clinics, I knew immediately that this was the right one for me, as all the staff were genuinely nice and Dr Claassen was so calm and confident. Everything was explained clearly to me and all options proposed. The whole process was easy and pain free and a few months later I am now smiling confidently again.”

Marylin Kain

★★★★★

“Today I had the next stage along with my implants — it means getting closer to the final teeth and so rewarding each time. I have been treated with the utmost respect and I am grateful that we are edging towards my final smile.”

Regina Hall

★★★★★

“Look, no one likes going to the dentist! With most it is an unpleasant and even painful experience. Not so with Pieter. ‘Calm and Gentle’ is the promise and that is what I experienced. I didn’t feel a thing. If you need an implant, don’t risk a trip to Turkey or further. Right here in Tonbridge, we have the best.”

Adrian Gilbert

★★★★★

“You guided me through every step and answered every question — on that fine line between dumbing down and talking down. I’ve attended dentists in France, the US, Australia and the UK; a visit to Calm & Gentle is the first I’ve not dreaded.”

Patrick Stoner

★★★★★

“I was very nervous because it was a big job, but it was done in stages. I found Pieter very professional and painstaking. Now I don’t worry about my teeth. My granddaughter said, ‘Nana, you’ve got film stars’ teeth!’ I can eat, I can smile.”

Mrs Mahony

★★★★★

“Having implants was the best decision I ever made. I used to hide my teeth and wouldn’t eat in public. Now I can eat what I want, when I want — including apples — and I’m far more confident.”

Stephen Barnham

★★★★★

“I’d been told my remaining teeth were unlikely to survive — it was a bombshell. Then I met Pieter and his team. They listened, explained my options, and I decided on implants. In no time my new smile was complete, and I’m a much more confident, happier person.”

Dental implant FAQs

Are dental implants painful?
Most of our patients tell us the procedure was painless. Our aim is for it to be as comfortable and pain-free as possible: the area is fully numbed before we begin, and we don’t proceed unless you’re completely numb. Most patients tell us it was far easier than they feared.
How long do dental implants take?
From placement to final tooth is usually around 3–4 months, allowing the implant to fuse properly with the bone. We’ll give you a clear timeline for your specific case at your consultation.
How long do implants last?
Well-maintained implants can last many years — often decades. They’re cared for exactly like natural teeth: brushing, flossing and regular check-ups. Your treatment includes our minimum 5-year guarantee.
Am I too old for implants? Will I be suitable?
Suitability depends on your general health and the bone available, not age. A 3D scan at your free consultation tells us exactly what’s possible for you.
Can implants replace all my teeth?
Yes — a full arch can be supported on as few as four to six implants (All-on-4 / full-mouth implants), giving you fixed teeth without plates or adhesive.
Do I have to go abroad to afford implants?
No. We offer competitive pricing from only £2,250, 0% finance, and a minimum 5-year guarantee — with all your aftercare here in Tonbridge if anything ever needs attention.
What implant system do you use?
We use the Conelog system, a premium Swiss-German implant. Its conical connection is specifically designed to minimise the bone loss that can occur around implants, which helps keep your implant stable for years to come.
Is the implant fixed permanently?
It’s securely fixed — the tooth and implant are joined with a screw so it won’t move in everyday life — yet it remains retrievable by your dentist if it ever needs adjusting.
Can smokers have dental implants?
Often, yes — but smoking slows healing and raises the risk of problems around an implant, so we assess it carefully at your consultation and talk you through how to give your implants the best chance. Cutting down or stopping around the time of treatment makes a real difference.
Which areas do you treat implant patients from?
We’re in the centre of Tonbridge and welcome implant patients from across west Kent — including Hildenborough, Hadlow, Paddock Wood, Southborough, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks.
How much do dental implants cost?
A single dental implant with its crown starts from £2,250 here in Tonbridge, with 0% finance to spread the cost. A full arch of fixed teeth (All-on-4 / full-mouth) costs more but replaces every tooth on just four to six implants. You’ll get a clear, all-inclusive quote — with no hidden extras — at your free consultation.
Can I get dental implants on the NHS?
Dental implants aren’t routinely available on the NHS; they’re normally only funded in specific medical cases, such as after facial trauma or certain cancer treatment. For almost everyone they’re a private treatment. We keep ours affordable — from £2,250 with 0% finance — so there’s no need to travel abroad.
What are the downsides of dental implants?
In fairness, the main ones are that it’s a minor surgical procedure, the full process takes a few months while the implant fuses with the bone, and it’s an investment up front. You’ll also need healthy gums and good daily cleaning to keep them lasting. For most people the trade-off — fixed teeth that look and feel natural, backed by our minimum 5-year guarantee — is well worth it, and we’ll always tell you honestly if an implant isn’t the best option for you.
How long will I be without a tooth?
In most cases you won’t have to walk around with a visible gap — especially at the front, where we can usually fit a temporary tooth so you leave looking normal. The implant then heals over about 3–4 months before your final, permanent tooth is placed.
